Quick FAQs

What is Tripaly?

Tripaly is a subscription-based online travel agency.  Subscribers pay a flat monthly rate depending upon their subscription package, and are able to book trips (airfare and lodging) through our service at no additional cost.

Tripaly is acting as an intermediary or a “Booking Agent” for products and services that are not directly supplied by us (e.g., airfare, ground transportation, hotel accommodations, meals, tours, cruises, etc.). We are not a co-vendor of such products and services. You have a direct relationship with the supplier as you would have if you booked directly.

What does the subscription get for me?

You get to travel easier on a fixed monthly travel budget!  Subscribers pay a monthly subscription fee in exchange for the ability to book selected trips (transportation and hotel) at no additional cost through our service.  An individual subscription includes trips with a single transportation ticket and accommodations for one person.  A couple’s subscription includes two transportation tickets and accommodations for two people.

What types of subscription packages are there?

Subscriptions are divided by (i) trip quality (platinum, gold and silver), (ii) individual or couple packages, and (iii) number of trips per year (2, 3 or 4).

The three levels of trip quality are the following:

Platinum: Access to the best trips we offer;

  • Access to all cruises and international trips we offer; and,
  • Access to all Gold and Silver trips

Gold: Access to most trips we offer;

  • Minimal access to cruises and international trips and,
  • Access to Silver trips

Silver: Access to some of the trips we offer.

Can I get a refund of my subscription fees if I don’t take a trip?

If you cancel your subscription before booking your first trip, all of your subscription fees paid during the period prior to your cancellation are refundable, minus a processing fee of two and one-half percent (2.5%).  Your subscription fees minus the processing fee will be refunded to you within sixty (60) days.

When and how are new trips released and available for booking?

New trip offerings are posted to the site and available for booking on Monday at 11:00 a.m. CST.

Our App is in development and, soon, we’ll be offering our trips via the App.

Booking

How do I book a trip?

Subscribers wishing to book a trip do so as indicated through the medium of offering:  (i) through the App or Website by clicking “Book,” or (ii) through e-mail, by following the booking process as described in the e-mail.

What happens when I select to book a trip?

When you click “book,” you are authorizing Tripaly to apply one of your subscription trip credits and book the selected trip for you on your behalf.  Tripaly will then book the trip on your behalf with the Suppliers.

Tripaly will send you confirmation and e-ticketing information between one hour and twenty-four hours from the time of booking.  If you do not receive your confirmation within twenty-four hours, e-mail us at help@tripa.ly

What if I change my mind about which trip I want to take?

You may request a “Quick Cancel” of your booked trip within sixty minutes of initial booking.  To request a “Quick Cancel,” please e-mail your request to help@tripa.ly.

Otherwise, see Cancellation / Refunds below.

Can I bring guests?

This depends on the trip.  Some trips have an “Add Guest” option with a fixed price to add a guest to accompany you on your trip.  E-mail help@tripa.ly if you wish to add a guest and the trip does not have an “Add Guest” option.

When should I make my booking?

As soon as you identify a trip you want to take, you should book that trip.  There is limited trip inventory and other subscribers may be interested in the trip as well.

How far in advance can I reserve trips?

Most trips are offered four or five days before the departure date.  Occasionally, trips are offered up to two weeks before the departure date.

What is the deadline to reserve a trip?

Can I purchase trips through Tripaly outside of the subscription?

Yes, most trips have a non-subscription package purchase price.  Contact help@tripa.ly if you want to purchase a trip outside of a subscription.

Otherwise, trips cannot be cancelled.

What if a trip gets cancelled?

If an airline or cruise operator cancels a trip, then you need to directly seek your remedy from the airline or cruise operator the same way you would if you booked a trip directly.  Please contact help@tripa.ly if this happens.

How do I cancel my membership?

E-mail help@tripa.ly to cancel your membership at any time.  If you have a trip booked, then you must wait until after the trip for your cancellation to take effect.

Can I get a refund of my subscription fees if I don’t take a trip?

If you cancel your subscription before booking your first trip, all of your subscription fees paid during the period prior to your cancellation are refundable, minus a processing fee of two and one-half percent (2.5%).  Your subscription fees minus the processing fee will be refunded to you within thirty (30) days.

Can I get a refund of my subscription fees if I have already taken a trip?

If you cancel your subscription after taking a trip, then you may either be entitled to a refund or may be liable for an early termination fee depending upon (i) how many trips you have taken, (ii) the number of subscription months allocable to each trip, and (iii) how many months you have paid of your subscription.  If you take a trip, you are obligated to pay your subscription fees for the number of months allocable to your trip.  The number of months allocable to your trip equals twelve divided by the number of trips you are subscribed to each year.

For example:

If you have subscribed for four trips in a year, then there are three months allocable to each trip.  If you take a trip in Month One and want to cancel at the beginning of Month Two, you would be responsible for paying an early termination fee equal to the subscription price for Months Two and Three and you would be billed in Month Two and Three respectively for such amounts.  On the other hand, if you take a trip in Month Two and want to cancel at the end of Month Four, then you would be entitled to a refund for the subscription fees for Month Four, minus the processing fee.

If you have subscribed for three months in a year, then there are four months allocable to each trip.  If you take a trip in Month One and want to cancel at the beginning of Month Two, you would be responsible for paying an early termination fee equal to the subscription price for Months Two, Three and Four and you would be billed in Month Two, Three respectively for such amounts.  On the other hand, if you take a trip in Month Two and want to cancel at the end of Month Six, then you would be entitled to a refund for the subscription fees for Months Five and Six, minus the processing fee.

If you have a subscription for two trips per year, then there are six months allocable to each trip.  If you take a trip in Month One and want to cancel at the beginning of Month Two, you would be responsible for paying an early termination fee equal to the subscription price for Months Two, Three, Four, Five and Six and you would be billed in Month Two, Three, Fourt, Five and Six, respectively for such amounts.  On the other hand, if you take a trip in Month Two and want to cancel at the end of Month Seven, then you would be entitled to a refund for the subscription fees for Months Seven, minus the processing fee.

Air Travel

If I am a subscriber, are airline taxes and fuel surcharges included in the ticket?

Yes.

Is my ticket upgradeable to business class?

This varies by airline.  You must contact and pay the airline directly to request any such upgrades.

Is my ticket transferrable?

No.

Can I choose my seat upon booking?

No.  Depending upon the airline, Tripaly may pre-select seats for you when booking on your behalf based upon your account preferences or you will have an opportunity to choose your seats after initial booking and before the flight.

Does the airline allow name changes on airline tickets?

No.

How many pieces of luggage am I permitted?

This varies depending on the airline.  Check directly with the airline for baggage information.  You are responsible for all baggage fees that apply.

Can I use my frequent flyer number?

Yes.  All frequent flyer numbers should be provided to Tripaly when you setup your account, and Tripaly will then use those numbers when booking on your behalf.

What if an airline denies me access?

If you arrive at an airline ticket or passenger check-in counter with your confirmed ticket and find that the airline shows no reservation for you – do not leave the counter. Check your ticket. If the status box shows “OK” for the flight in question, the airline policies typically require them to accommodate you on that flight, or if that is not possible, they must either find you a substitute flight or pay you denied boarding compensation. If necessary, ask to speak to a supervisor.

What happens if I miss the flight check-in?

Failure to check-in for your flight at the appropriate time may result in denied boarding and a refund may not be granted. Check-in times vary by carrier/airport and all participants are required to check with the carrier for the most current information.

Hotels

What if a hotel denies me access?

Your booking confirmation is the same as if you were to book a hotel directly in this respect.  If you arrive at a hotel with your booking confirmation and find that the hotel shows no reservation for you, show them a copy of your reservation and, if necessary, ask to speak to a supervisor.

If they do not accommodate you, e-mail help@tripa.ly as soon as possible to report the issue and seek further booking assistance.

What hotel charges am I responsible for?

Everything other than the nightly hotel cost and taxes is your responsibility.  This includes room deposits and other special charges and assessments such as room service.

The Gift of Travel

Can I purchase a gift subscription for someone else?

Yes.  You would be billed as though you were the subscriber, but the recipient would have the ability to select their trip as though he or she were the subscriber.

How do I give Tripaly as a gift?

E-mail your request to subscriptions@tripa.ly

How do I redeem my Tripaly gift?
